PERFORMANCE "Athletes do not achieve and exceed performance objectives by embracing mediocrity!"™ In summary, as represented by the graph below, so far, I've competed in 268 USATF sanctioned events, and has placed 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in 94.4% of all of his races. With regard to competing, my focus is always on achieving my potential, my best; I never think about the person in the next lane. Plus, with very few exceptions I know exactly how I'll perform in every race, because I ran the time in practice a week or two prior to race day.
I've competed in over three dozen 5k and 10k races, typically finishing in the top 10%. Competing in 20k, half-marathons, marathons, vertical marathons, and various multi-sporting events is exhausting but . . . fun! Throughout my life, weekly base-training for track events (100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m and 1 mile) added over 23,400 miles on my physique, and my base-training regime for road races (5k, 10k, 20k, etc.) and various multi-sporting events added nearly another 13,000 miles. As a career athlete, I actively participates in track, cycling, and rollerskating events throughout the United States.
Unfortunately, since moving to Nebraska (a very unhealthy and unfit state) my performance has declinced due to the lack of masters track meets; typically there are only two-(2) outdoor masters track meets each year in Nebraska - the Cornhusker State Games and Nebraska Senior Games; and absolutely no indoor season. Travel to other states has been problematic due to shifting vocational priorities and family challenges. Nevertheless, I recognize the human body has peeks and valleys in performance, and I know I can run faster and expect my performance to improve, as I continue to enjoy the benefits of living a healthy and fit lifestyle. I welcome sharing my insight whenever requested.
