The top five (5) essential functions performed by this division:

1. Maintain informational database regarding all personnel actions for over 4,000 elementary and secondary teachers.

2. Process and/or complete personnel action forms for all licensed elementary and secondary personnel.

3. Processing all related paperwork involved with the hiring of new teachers.

4. Submit all personnel actions for approval by the Board of Education.

5. Conduct contract signing for newly hired teachers.

The top three (3) questions asked of this division:

1. What is the status of my application?

Response: When your application is received it will be placed on our active applicant list for principals to review. A principal(s) will contact you upon interest in your candidacy.

2. I am interested in becoming a teacher. What is the procedure for getting a job with DPS?

Response: Send in an application [available for download at link below]. When candidates are needed in your curriculum area, we will refer your name out to principals. A principal(s) will contact you upon interest in your candidacy.

3. How many credits do I need to move to the next step?

Response: You must first determine your current salary on the DCTA salary schedule. This will establish your exact placement by educational lane (BA, BA+30, BA+60 or MA, MA+30, MA+60, or Doctorate) and guide you in determining how many more credits you need to move to the next step or lane change.
